Wildfire season adding complex layer to COVID-19, says Interior Health

With winds buffeting the Christie Mountain wildfire in the South Okanagan, Interior Health says those who could be evacuated should start planning to relocate now.

Wildfires, and the threat of being evacuated, are adding more complex layers to the tangled, layered mess of COVID-19.

With the Christie Mountain wildfire raging in the background, Interior Health said on Friday it is taking every precaution possible to ensure patient safety.

When the fire broke out on Tuesday and quickly exploded in size, an evacuation order affecting 319 properties was quickly issued. That was followed by an evacuation alert for nearly 3,700 properties in Penticton.

Now, with winds barreling through the South Okanagan, there’s the possibility the fire could grow, resulting in that evacuation alert turning into an order.

The 2,160-square-foot had plenty of potential, and the Napiers helped transform it into the Kollar’s dream home on season 3, episode 12 of the series. Now, the 3-bedroom home is back on the market because the Kollars recently had to relocate for work, according to Realtor.com.

The 1960s-era home, recognizable to fans of the popular HGTV show, has been listed by owners Rebecca and Matt Kollar for $229,000 in Laurel, Mississippi.

The couple, both doctors, had fallen in love with the property in 2018, and enlisted the help if Ben and Erin Napier to bring it to its full potential, as documented on season 3, episode 12 of the hit series.
